1. The People's National Party's 2011 Election Campaign officially comes to an end today. The Party Leader, Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller will visit sections of St. James and Westmoreland, to culminate with spot meetings in East Central St. Andrew (Mall Road), and a workers meeting in her South West St. Andrew constituency.

2. The Election Campaign of the People's National Party has gone well. The main objective now is that of election readiness on Thursday 29th December, 2011.

3. The Party is confident that it will be successful at the polls. We base our prediction of success on the following:

·The suffering that the people have endured under a JLP Government;

·The People's acceptance of our message that the PNP, based on its record of performance and the plans we have articulated for the future, is the Party to govern Jamaica and return it to sustained economic growth and prosperity;

·That the Leadership and Team of the People's National Party are superior to that of the Jamaica Labour Party, and that Team PNP has set its agenda following consultations with the People of Jamaica.

·The turn-out at our mass meetings have been overwhelming, demonstrating the fact that the people are ready for a change of Government.

4. We are aware of the latest polling data which exist. We are confident that the poll commissioned by the People's National Party, and carried out by renown pollster, Mr. Don Anderson, gives the People's National Party a lead of over 4%. This is in keeping with the trend which we have picked up and experienced on the ground.

Don Anderson's call – 51 seats

PNP – 28 seats

JLP – 23 seats

Unable to call – 12 seats

The PNP, according to Don Anderson, is leading in the 12 constituencies which he is unable to call.

The PNP is therefore confident of forming the next Government.

We also note that the last Bill Johnson poll shows that the People's National Party is ahead of the Jamaica Labour Party, again confirming our own experience on the ground. We are also aware that others have made predictions which are not in keeping with the realities on the ground. On Election Day we will prove the naysayers wrong.

5. We recognize that there are some persons, who for their own Party political reasons, would wish to distort the Party's position as it relates to the Buggery Act. The People's National Party has stated, and wishes to repeat that it is committed to a review of the Act, and not a repeal of it. During the review, every Member of Parliament will be required to bring to bear on the discussions, the views and the opinion of his or her constituents. At the end of the review, if a vote is to be taken, the vote will be a conscience vote, which means each Member of Parliament will vote according to the directive of his or her constituents.
