The road to recovery for the League has been extremely challenging but we have renewed our resolve, and by continuing to work with the Jamaican community within the New York tri-state area we have managed to accomplish the following:
- The JPL building is no longer encumbered by a Mortgage, and is now self- sustaining. A community group now operates a day care center for children on the premise.
- Established Karl & Faye Rodney Library for Caribbean and African American History at the headquarters in Bronx, NY.
- The current President of the League is now a member of District Community Board 12 in the Bronx.
- Member Mark Escoffery-Bey ran for the 16th Council District, representing Morrisania, West Bronx, South Bronx, Highbridge and Melrose.
- Initiated the move by the NY City Council to co-name the East Gun Hill/White Plains Road street sign to add Hon Marcus Garvey Square.
- Visited Jamaican nationals who are incarcerated.
- Hosted JPL's 75th anniversary in conjunction with Jamaica's 49th Independence celebration. Comrade Peter Phillips gave the keynote address.
- Hosted the Hon. Marcus Garvey 124th Birthday Anniversary celebration in conjunction with the Bronx Borough President.
- Every 3rd Thursday jointly host Culture Night & Book Signing with The Caribbean Cultural Theatre.
